Men's Soccer First Home Win!
The Trinity Bible College and Graduate School Men's Soccer Team marked a significant milestone in their program's young history with their first-ever home victory.
After a hard-fought game, the Lions secured their inaugural win on home turf, with the added joy of scoring their first home goals in a 4-1 victory over Oak Hills Christian College. This achievement is a pivotal moment for a program still in its formative stages.
The journey to this moment has not been easy. This season is technically the programs second year following the setback of last year's canceled season. However, the determination of the institution, coaching staff and players has remained resolute, and the team returned this year with a renewed sense of purpose and vision for the future.
One of the biggest challenges the Lions face is rebuilding a program with many players who are still learning the game. The roster includes a number of athletes who are new to soccer, showcasing a mix of raw talent and untapped potential.
"We've got a lot of guys who hadn't even played soccer before joining us, but they've put in the hard work, and today's victory is a testament to that commitment."
Despite their inexperience, the Lions have shown improvement in the preseason. The first home goals were a testament to the team's determination, with Damian Myers, a standout in the match, netting the first goal. His goal was followed by another from Chris Diephuis, both of which lifted the spirits of the team and the home crowd alike. These crucial moments boosted the confidence of a team that has been striving to make its mark.
Both Myers and Diephuis ended the game having each scored two goals.
Beyond the statistics and the result, this victory symbolizes the hard work and determination of a team in the process of building something special.
"This win is a step forward, but it's just the beginning. Our goal is to develop these players and turn our program into something the college and community can be proud of for years to come."
"I'm beyond thankful to the guys in our community that are helping to make this season a reality! Especially those that have never played before."
As the Lions continue their season, they'll carry the momentum of this first home victory with them. For now, the players and coaches can take pride in this historic win - one that marks the beginning of what promises to be an exciting journey.
The future looks bright, as we continue to recruit new talent and cultivate the skills of our existing players.
The Lions will continue their season with a home game against Faith Baptist Bible College on Monday, September 9th at 10:30am.
