Lions Football Player Signs Contract to Play in Turkey
Colten Hoots has signed a contract to continue his football career overseas. Hoots concluded his playing career for the Lions during the 2018 season. He served as a team captain and was one of the Lions hardest working and most versatile players. Colten contributed significantly on both sides of the ball, playing linebacker on defense, and manning the tackle position on the Trinity offensive line.
Colten gained this opportunity by setting up an account and creating a profile on Europlayers.com. This site helps connect foreign teams with players and coaches from all over the world, who are looking to continue their careers in American football. Hoots will be joining the Antalya Spor in late February and staying through the season, which wraps up in June. The team is located Antalya, a Mediterranean coastal town in southwest Turkey. Colten's roles with the team will include playing linebacker and defensive line, and serving as the offensive line coach. He has also been tasked with helping to make defensive play calls for a university team in the local area.
Hoots believes that his playing experience at Trinity will enable him to connect with his new teammates and help him relate to the challenges and adversity associated with competing for a small team. Colten gained valuable recruiting and coaching experience both at Trinity and at home in Colorado over the past few years, so he feels well prepared for his new assignments. Hoots closed by adding, "my playing career at TBC has provided me with a great deal of knowledge and versatility. I'm excited about the opportunity to utilize my skills as both a player and coach in Turkey." Congratulations on your new position Colten!! Your Lions football family will be praying for you and following your progress along the way.
