Lions jump back into conference play
Lions will travel to Canada for two games with CMU
The Lions basketball teams are back from the holiday break, and ready to jump into to conference play. Both the Lions basketball teams have a very important stretch coming forward as out of their last 15 games 13 of them are either conference or NCCAA games.
The Lady Lions are currently sitting 3rd in the conference as they are 4-1 in the NIAC. First semester the Lady Lions were able to knock of the defending champs with a win against Sisseton-Wahpeton. The Lions will get a crack at one of two undefeated teams in the conference this weekend, as they will be taking on Canadian Mennonite University. For this big stretch the Lady Lions added to the roster with two players. Rachel Church was added back to the roster after she played a season and a half for the Lions, she is a much needed ball handler and solid scoring option. Camryn Shockley from the Lady Lions Volleyball team also is an addition for the basketball team; her 5'7" frame will add a much needed combo player who can play both forward and some guard.
The Lions men team is currently looking from the bottom up in the NIAC standing, but the Lions are in prime position to make a huge jump in the standings. The Lions have played 5 conference games this season and all the teams they have played are respectively are 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the NIAC. The Lions made some roster changes as well, as they have added three players, two of which add much need height for the Lions to add another dimension to the Lions basketball team. Leroy Slaten from St. Petersburg, FL gives the Lions a 6'3" pure post player who can extend the defense with his range. Tyler Bliss from Lamoure, ND will give the Lions another lengthy player who can play both forward and guard if needed. The last addition to the roster is Jackson Lindbo who will improve the depth at the guard position as he can play any where from the 1 to the 3 guard spot.
