Lady Lions win a 5-set thriller against Oak Hills
The Lady Lion volleyball team headed to Bemidji to play three NCCAA games this past weekend.
The Lions played a game against Norh Central, and two against Oak Hills Christian College.
The first match up was against the North Central Rams, which saw the Lady Lions lose in straight sets (25-13,26-24,25-21). The Lady Lions came out flat in the first set, and then put a scare into the established program in the second and third set. The Lions were lead by Camryn Shockley as she had half of the teams kills with 6. Madison Pennington had a team high 7 assists. Both Brittany Erickson and Madison Pennington had 2 aces to lead the team. Abreena Knudson led the Lions with 16 digs.
The second match saw the Lions get their second win of the season in a 5 set match (25-23,11-25,26-24,18-25,15-13). Camryn Shockley played a huge role in the Lady Lions win as she hit at a 25.6% and had 14 kills and 13 digs for her first double double of the season. Kennedy Nofziger had 15 assists and Madison Pennington 14 assists for the Lions. The Lions had a season high 13 service aces, Madison Pennington had 6 aces and Kennedy Nofziger add 5 aces as well. Abreena Knudson led the team in digs with 14 total.
The last match of the weekend against Oak Hills which saw the Wolfpack win in straight sets (25-22,25-20,25-22). Camryn Shockley continued her stellar weekend with another game of 14 kills and hit 30.6%, which is a season high for an individual. Kayla Barnett had 6 kills to add to the total. The Lions had 33 kills which is a team high. Kennedy Nofziger had 16 assists which was a team high. The Lions also had 9 aces which was lead by Madison Pennington 3 aces. Kayla Barnett had 12 digs which lead the team.
The Lady Lions will be back in action on Wednesday October, 3rd. They play Lake Region State College in Devils Lake at 7 p.m.
