
Lady Lions Win on Home Court
The Lady Lions got their first win of the season in front of their home crowd. The Lions never trailed in the basketball game as they put together a complete team-effort to beat Sisseton Wahpeton College, 81-60.
The Lady Lions got out to a quick start by jumping out on a 9-2 run that set the tone for the rest of the night. The Lions and Mustangs traded off scoring to end the first quarter, 15-9. The Lions were balanced in the first quarter with four different Lions scoring, led by 7 from freshman Stacia West.
The Lions and Mustangs battled with each other for the first eight minutes of the second quarter, as neither team could distance themselves from the other. The teams played within 4 points of each other for most of the quarter. With two minutes left in the half, the score sat at 28-26. Chambre Droste and Stacia West both sank two big buckets, ending the half with a quick 8-0 run to give the Lions the breathing room they needed to control the rest of the game.
The Lions jumped on the Mustangs in the first five minutes of the second half as they started on a 15-3 run, which saw the Lions garner their largest lead of the game at 22 points. The run was highlighted by Stacia West and Kennedy Nofziger as they hit two 3-pointers a piece to extend the Lions' lead.
In the fourth, the Lions were able to use their whole roster to get valuable game experience, which will pay dividends throughout the rest of the season.
The Lions had three players in double digits. Stacia West led the Lions with 30 points, Kennedy Nofziger had 17, and Chambre Droste added 14. Both West and Droste posted double-doubles as they had 19 and 13 boards, respectively. Kennedy Nofziger led the Lions with 7 assists; Jena Sidle led the team with 2 steals on the night.
As a team, the Lions had many season highs. 81 points is a season high, which was paced by highs in both field goal percentage and 3-point percentage at 46.7% and 40%. The Lions had a season high of 20 assists to go with a high of 42 points in the paint. The Lady Lions also got a season high of 12 points off the bench.

The Lady Lions will be on the road to Ankeny, IA where they will meet up with Calvary University on Friday, November 22nd and Faith Baptist Bible College on Saturday, November 23rd.
