Homecoming Volleyball Triangular
The Lions volleyball team hosted a triangular with Calvary University and Dakota College at Bottineau on their home court Friday, September 20th for homecoming. Before Friday, Trinity Bible College had already seen both of these teams in their season. The Lions beat Calvary in 3 sets on a neutral site, North Central University, during their first weekend of play. Just two weeks prior to the homecoming matches, the Lions fell short to Bottineau in 4 sets while on Bottineau's home court.
Trinity Bible College vs Calvary University
The Lions met up with Calvary, a team in their Region, first for a 3:00pm game. It was a rough start for Trinity as they fell short, 9-25, in the first set. However, they did not allow that tempo to carry on for the remainder of the match. The Lions came out strong in the second set with a 0.318 kill percentage to win the second set, 25-19. They continued to improve throughout the third and fourth set to beat Calvary 25-16 and 28-26, respectively.
Camryn Shockley, sophomore, led the Lions in kills with a total of 17. Stacia West, freshman, was not far behind her with 14 kills and an impressive 0.370 kill percentage. West also led in defensive blocks with 3 solo blocks and 2 block assists. Setter Kennedy Nofziger had a total of 28 assists while also completing 11 digs in defense. It was the libero, Abreena Knudsen, who led the team in digs, totaling 12 for the match.
Trinity Bible College vs Dakota College at Bottineau
After their win against Calvary, the Lions prepared for their match with Bottineau at 7:00pm. Trinity came out strong in the first set, losing to Bottineau only by 2 points, 23-25. It was Bottineau who pulled away with the win in the second set, finishing 10-25. However, Trinity fought back in the third set to keep a close set, but fell short 19-25.
Kennedy Nofziger continued her consistency for the Lions, finishing the match with 27 assists. Camryn Shockley completed 8 kills and held a 0.389 kill percentage against Bottineau. Stacia West also had 8 kills followed by Sadi Deplazes with 6 kills. It was Shockley and Shannon Beauchene who led the team in digs, completing 8 and 6 digs, respectively.
Looking Ahead
The Lions volleyball team will see their next competition this weekend as they travel to Minneapolis, MN. They will be matching up against Anoka-Ramsey Community College on Friday, September 27th at 6:30pm and North Central University on Saturday, September 28th at 3:30pm.
