
Volleyball Heads to Minneapolis, MN
This weekend, the Lions volleyball team traveled to Minneapolis, MN for two games. Their first competition was a Friday night match against Anoka-Ramsey Community College, followed by their second meet up with North Central University on Saturday afternoon.
Trinity Lions vs Anoka-Ramsey Community College
The Lions started the night strong as they soundly took the first set against Anoka-Ramsey, winning 25-16. However, Anoka-Ramsey answered back in the second set to flip the score, the Lions falling short 16-25. The Lions were determined to keep fighting. They took the third set with a score of 25-21, and made an extremely close fourth set, losing 27-29. This would lead them to playing a fifth set, the first time the Lions have done this for the 2019 season. It was the TBC Lions who would pull away with the win, beating Anoka-Ramsey 15-10.
Camryn Shockley once again was the leader for the Lions' attacks. She had 15 kills and finished with a 0.208 kill percentage. Kennedy Nofziger had an impressive 32 assists during the game. The Lions' defense was held together by Abreena Knudsen as she finished the game with 23 total digs.
Trinity Lions vs North Central University
The Lions came to NCU for their homecoming game on Saturday, September 28th. Trinity came out strong as they earned the first 6 points in the first set, leading 6-0. However, the NCU Rams fought back to win the set 23-25. The Lions put in a lot of hard work and saw great improvements, but ended up losing the next two sets 18-25 and 19-25, respectively.
It was middle hitter Stacia West who led the Lions in kills on Saturday with a total of 7. She finished with a 0.294 kill percentage. The libero, Abreena Knudsen, once again had the most digs for the Lions with a total of 11.
Looking Ahead
The Lions volleyball team will be crossing the border to Canada this weekend for a tournament at Providence University College & Theological Seminary in Otterburne, MB. They will see four teams during the tournament, competing in two matches on October 5th and two matches on October 6th.
