Men's Basketball Ranked 6th
After two Regional wins this weekend, the Lions men's basketball team moved up to be ranked 6th in the NCCAA DII Men's Basketball Division.
On Friday, January 22nd, the Lions met Free Lutheran Bible College on a neutral court. They came out with the win, beating FLBC 90-50. Marcellus Mencarini was the high scorer that night with 22 points. Khalil Bolden, also named Student-Athlete of the Week, led the team in assists, 8, and steals, 9.
The Lions would then match up against one of the tougher opponents in the Region, Oak Hills Christian College. With five of the Lions scoring in the double digits, they were able to come out with a victory, 87-69. Khalil Bolden had a triple double with 30 total points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. Logan Klitzke was the next top scorer with 14 points.
Currently, Marcellus Mencarini is the Lions' top scorer, averaging 16.5 points per game. Khalil Bolden is close behind him with an average of 16.4. Bolden also leads the team in assists and steals with an average of 5.2 and 3.3, respectively. It is senior, Logan Klitzke, who leads the Lions in rebounds with an average of 5.4 per game.
The Lions' next match up will be against Sisseton Wahpeton College on Wednesday, January 27th, on their home court at 8:00pm.
