Lions Volleyball Win Homecoming Match
The Trinity Bible College Lions volleyball team had their Homecoming match on Friday, September 11th against the Faith Baptist Eagles. Coming into the match, the Lions had already matched up against the Eagles in the first tournament of the season in which they lost 0-3. The Lions knew this would be a tough match, but they were ready to fight for the victory on their home court.
The opening set was a back and forth rally as the teams proved to be very evenly matched. Faith ended up on top in the first set, winning 25-23. With the support of the home crowd, the Lions were able to come back with a win in the second set, 25-21. The Lions and Eagles split the next two sets, which would force the match to go to the fifth set. Although it remained a close match, the Lions were able to come out with the Homecoming victory, winning 15-12.
It was sophomore, Stacia West, who led the Lady Lions in kills for the night with 20 total. She was followed by Sadi Deplazes with 14 kills. The freshman setter, Layce Kooima, had an impressive 31 total assists and also led the team in digs with 20. Grace West was close behind Kooima in digs, with 18.
The Lions will be on the road with matches for the next couple of weeks. They will have their next home matches on October 2nd and 3rd against Maranatha Baptist University.
