Parker Stemen Joins the 1000 Points Club
The 2019-2020 Lions men's basketball season finished with both team and individual success. One of the great personal accomplishments that the Lions saw was adding Parker Stemen, a senior, to the 1000 points club. During the NCCAA DII Regional Tournament, the Lions pulled an upset over Calvary Bible College with the help of Stemen's 23 points. It was this game that sent Stemen over the 1000 points mark.
Stemen has been an extremely important asset to the Lions basketball program since his first year at TBC. During his freshman year, Stemen scored a total of 157 points. He continued to improve during his second year, finishing the season with 181 total points. This was accompanied by 156 total rebounds, 40 assists, and 25 steals. Stemen worked hard to increase his scoring average throughout his junior year and finished the season with 246 points. It was his senior year that made all the difference for Stemen, as he finished the season scoring nearly half of his total career points, 451. He also earned 256 rebounds, 71 assists, and 35 steals for the final year of this basketball career.
Stemen's leadership and athletics ability will be greatly missed by the Lions, but he made a strong impact on the program during his time at Trinity Bible College. Stemen finished his basketball career scoring an impressive total of 1,066 points.
In the words of Coach Jordan Nowell, "Parker worked very hard through his career to become the best player he could be. I was very excited for him when he was able to eclipse the 1000 point barrier! It's a great testament to the type of player he is! But, a better indication of Parker is the fact that he broke it during the Regional Tournament and didn't want the game stopped to recognize him because he wanted everyone to be focused on winning the game! It was a really cool moment to see! Thanks for everything you did as a Lion, Parker!"
