Newman Named NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week for a 5thTime
Congrats to Jaylen Newman! She did it again for a 5th time this year! She has been named NCCAA DII WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Student-Athlete of the Week!!
Jaylen Newman, a senior from Velva, North Dakota, posted 3 straight double-doubles this week, helping the Lions go 2-1. In the Lions' lone loss of the week, Newman posted 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks against University of Northwestern. Newman followed that up with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 blocks in an 80-61 win over Providence University College (PUC). She then went on to record 24 points, 20 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks in another win over PUC. Newman is averaging a double-double on the year with 23.6 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks.
