Lions WBB Falls to Welch College in ACCA 1st Round

Women’s Basketball Results Trinity Bible College Lions @ ACCA National Tournament 1st Round March 2nd, 2017 (Ozark Christian College, Joplin, MO) SCORE #5 Welch College Flames defeated #4 Trinity Bible College Lions 59 to 47.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

It was back and forth for the 1st quarter as the Lions and Flames traded baskets.

The Flames were able to get a small lead in the 2nd quarter as they outscored the Lions 14 to 11 heading into halftime.

The Flames led at halftime 32 to 29.

The 3rd quarter saw the Flames jump out and push their lead as the Lions struggled offensively.

Both teams struggled to score in the 4th quarter as the Flames held on for the win.

The Flames defeated the Lions 59 to 47.

NOTES

- The Lions shot 27 percent from the field (14/51), 15 percent on 3's (2/13) and 73 percent on FT's (17/23).

- The Flames shot 31 percent from the field (22/70), 16 percent on 3's (6/37) and 69 percent on FT's (9/13).

-The Lions had 10 offensive rebounds to the Flames 16.

-The Lions had 16 turnovers to the Flames 11.

-Jaylen Newman led the Lions with 25 points and 8 rebounds.

-Jaylen broke the Lions WBB record for most Defensive rebounds in a season with 290. She also became the 1st Lions WBB players to eclipse 1,000 career rebounds.

-Shaylyn Steinheuser added 14 points and 9 rebounds.

-Shaylyn's 4 offensive rebounds tied the Lions WBB record for most Offensive rebounds in a single season with 125.
