Lions Upset NCU Rams at Home
Women’s Basketball Results Trinity Bible College Lions vs. North Central University Rams November 14th, 2015 Super Saturday (Ray Ulmer Fieldhouse, Ellendale, ND) SCORE Trinity Bible College defeats North Central University 66-63.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rams jumped out to a 12 to 0 lead to start the game. The Lady Lions then outscored the Rams 6 to 3 over the final minutes of the quarter to cut the Rams lead to just 9.
The Rams led 15 to 6 after the 1st quarter.
In the 2nd quarter the two teams battle back and forth, while the Rams held their biggest lead of the game of 13 points with 8 minutes to play in the quarter. The two teams each scored 14 points in the quarter and the Rams were able to take the lead into halftime.
The Rams led 29 to 20 at halftime.
The Lady Lions were able to use some hot shooting in the 3rd quarter to cut into the Rams lead. The Lady Lions outscored the Rams 23 to 16 in the quarter and cut the Rams lead from 9 to just 2.
The Rams led 45 to 43 after the 3rd quarter.
The Lady Lions were able to grab the lead in the 4th after back to back threes by both Newman and Fischer. The Lady Lions had a 6 point lead with 8 minutes to play in the game. The Lady Lions found themselves down by 2 points with just under a minute to go when Jaylen Newman hit the go ahead 3 pointer. The Lady Lions sealed the game with two more free throws.
The Lady Lions won 66 to 63 over the Rams.
NOTES
- The Lions shot 39 percent from the field (21/53), 45 percent on 3's (9/20) and 65 percent on FT's (15/23).
- The Rams shot 38 percent from the field (21/54), 29 percent on 3's (5/17) and 66 percent on FT's (16/24).
-The Lady Lions forced 22 Ram turnovers and had 10 steals.
-Jaylen Newman led all scorers with 29 points and added 7 rebounds.
-Janae Droste add 11 points and 7 rebounds for the Lady Lions
-The Rams had three players score in double figures led by Lizzy Swanson had 26 points.
-The Lady Lions had 8 offensive rebounds while the Rams had 15.
-The Lady Lions have now won 2 straight games and next play Tuesday, November 18th at 6pm vs. U of Minnesota Morris.
