Lions Win NIAC Conference Tournament

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Feb. 19^th -

The Lady Lions took control from the start and never looked back as they had their eyes set on getting back to the NIAC Championship game.

The Lady Lions were up 18 to 8 after the 1^st quarter.

The 2^nd quarter was still all Lady Lions as they extended their lead over the Conquerors.

The Lady Lions went into halftime up 40 to 21.

The 3^rd quarter went the same way as the first two as the Lady Lions continued to extend their lead

The Lady Lions took a 56 to 27 lead into the 4^th quarter.

The 4^th quarter the Lady Lions again held the Conquerors to just 6 points in the quarter as they went on to the win.

The Lady Lions beat the Conquerors 79 to 33 to advance to the NIAC Conference Championship Game.

Feb. 20^th –

The Lady Lions were looking for their 6^th NIAC Conference Championship in 7 years as they had their 3^rd game this year against TMCC this time for the conference championship.

The Lady Lions and TMCC were all tied up at 14 after the 1^st quarter.

The 2^nd quarter the Lady Lions were able to only grab a two point lead in a low scoring quarter for both teams.

The Lady Lions went into halftime up 23 to 21.

The Lady Lions used a big 3^rd quarter to gain control of the Championship game.

The Lady Lions were up 48 to 39 heading into the 4^th quarter.

TMCC spent the 4^th quarter trying to close the gap but the Lady Lions were able to hold on for the win.

The Lady Lions beat TMCC 65 to 57.

NOTES

Feb. 19^th -  

- The Lady Lions shot 50 percent from the field (30/60), 36 percent on 3's (4/11) and 62 percent on FT's (15/24).

- The Conquerors shot 24 percent from the field (15/62), 6 percent on 3's (1/15) and 16 percent on FT's (2/12).

-The Lady Lions had 4 players in double figures led by Janae Droste who had a double double with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

-Jaylen Newman added a double double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Rebecca Olsson pitched in 11 points 8 rebounds and Lauren Fischer had 10 points and 7 rebounds.

-The Lady Lions had 11 offensive rebounds and out rebounded the Conquerors 59 to 31.

Feb. 20^th -  

- The Lady Lions shot 40 percent from the field (24/60), 33 percent on 3's (9/27) and 100 percent on FT's (8/8).

- TMCC shot 29 percent from the field (20/67), 30 percent on 3's (9/20) and 45 percent on FT's (9/20).

-The Lady Lions had 3 players in double figures led by Jaylen Newman who had 27 points.

-Rebecca Olsson added 18 points and Janae Droste pitched in 10 points.

-The Lady Lions had 11 offensive rebounds but were out rebounded by TMCC 52 to 39.
