Women's Bball Season Update
2017-2018 women's BBall season
The Lady Lions women's basketball team has started the season off hot and look to continue their strong play next semester as they go into their break with a 6-4 record. With the loss of Jaylen Newman, an NCCAA All-American who averaged 23.6 points a game, the Lady Lions had some big shoes to fill, however, the Lady Lions returned 4 players from last year's team. One of the returners being Shaylyn Steinheuser, who was named 2nd Team All-Region. Along with her, sophomores Brynn Crockett, Rachel Church, and Kayla Barnett also return. The Lady Lions were able to pick up Emma Logan, a transfer student out of Fossil, OR who has led them on the court this year. The Lady Lions also picked up two true freshmen: Tabby Kinzler and Gracelynn Erickson both from Kulm, ND.
The Lady Lions started their year off 2-0 with two conference wins against AFLBS in landslide victories. The Lady Lions then ran into a road block facing NAIA Dakota State that handed them their first loss. However, the ladies were able to bounce right back nicely, defeating Faith Baptist and Ozark Christian for two big wins. The Lady Lions ran into a few more tough challenges with bigger schools, but when needed the girls showed up and were able to grab two more big home wins against conference opponent Red River College. The Lions are 4-0 against NCCAA opponents and 4-0 in NIAC conference play.
