Trinity Lions Shine: Seniors Honored as Basketball Team Triumphs in Double Win Weekend
Trinity Bible College's men's basketball team celebrated a memorable weekend as they clinched two victories against Oak Hills Christian College in a heartwarming atmosphere that marked the Parent Senior night on February 2nd. The event was particularly significant as seniors Marcellus Mencarini, Elijah Guerrero, Micah Christensen, and Ben Bialik were honored for their dedication and commitment to the team, culminating their basketball careers in a heart warming ceremony alongside their parents.
The Trinity Lions demonstrated sheer dominance on the court, securing wins with scores of 105-76 and 107-82, delighting the fervent crowd that had gathered to support their beloved team. The energy in the gymnasium was ecstatic as fans and parents alike cheered on the players, making the occasion truly special for the seniors bidding farewell on their last home game before they compete in the regional tournament in mid March.
In a display of exceptional teamwork and skill, the Trinity Lions showcased their intensity and dedication with impressive overall statistics for both games. The team boasted a total of 92 rebounds, 25 steals, and 35 assists, reflecting their cohesive performance throughout the weekend.
Leading the charge was Marcellus Mencarini, whose stellar performance saw him amass an impressive 62 points, maintaining a perfect record of 8-8 from the free-throw line, and contributing 12 assists to his team's success. Micah Christensen also delivered a standout performance, scoring 39 points and securing 11 rebounds, while Quincy Wilson and Sam Wilson made notable contributions with 29 and 27 points respectively, along with crucial steals and rebounds.
Coach Nowell was thrilled with the team's double triumph on such a special weekend for the players parents to witness. The wins not only highlighted the players' individual talents but also underscored the collective strength and determination of the Trinity Lions.
With spirits high and momentum on their side, the Trinity Lions look ahead to their upcoming challenge as they prepare to face Turtle Mountain Community College in Rollete County, ND on February 9th and 10th.
