Women’s Volleyball Wins at Home!!
The Lady Lions took on the Lumberjacks from Dakota College at Bottineau. The ladies took the victory on their home floor, winning three sets to one. In the first set, the team came out with a ton of energy and the student section was roaring! Bottineau came out in the first set with their A-game keeping it very close. We traded points with the Lumberjacks all set until it was tied up at 17. The Lady Lions strung together a few points in a row including a dual block by middle hitter Jenna LaDuke, and setter Kymber-Lee Mcgroman, giving the ladies a 21-18 lead. The Ladies would go on to win the set 25-20!
In the second set, the Lumberjacks came out firing on all cylinders taking an early 2-0 lead. The Lady Lions continued to fight back and it was another close set as both teams traded points back and forth! Later on, the Lumberjacks would take a 22-19 lead. Forcing head coach Quincy Wilson to call a timeout. The Lady Lions tried to mount a comeback, but the Lumberjacks were able to close it out 25-20!
In the third set, the Lady Lions came out with even more energy and fire as they took the lead early and continued to extend it 17-8 and forcing the Lumberjacks head coach to call a timeout! The Lumberjacks scored 3 points in a row, but it wasn't enough to slow the Lady Lions momentum. The ladies would go on to win 25-15, after a great hit from outside hitter Marlyssa Ledgerwood!
In the 4th set the Lady Lions carried over their momentum from the last set building a lead of 18-13. The Lumberjacks did not go down without a fight as they went on a run of their own. They cut the lead to three, making it 20-17. The Lady Lions went on to close it out 25-21, with a powerful hit from middle hitter Jenna LaDuke!
The Lady Lions are back in action at home Wednesday, October 29th versus Sisseton Wahpeton College. This will be the ladies last regular season game and senior night! We will honor seniors Alcista Miller and Hannah Hunter!
