Men's Bball Season Update
2017-2018 Men's BBall season
The Lions men's basketball season thus far has had its share of ups and downs, but still the Men's team has over-come losing a huge precentage of their scoring from last year's team, bringing their overall record to 5-6, which is one of the best starts to a season in recent years. The Lions returned 5 players who started or played major minutes for them in the 2016-2017 season. They brought back 3 seniors including Korey Harris, Tash Williams, and Cooper Nofziger who have done their part in leading this team as Captains. Along with them, senior Tanner Twigg joins the team, a former four year football player for Trinity. Juniors Josh Bauska, Parker Stemen, and Zach Marengo have also shown leadership when the team has needed it bringing with them their experience to the floor. The Lions added 2 true freshmen, Logan Klitzke and Ellendale's own Tommy McIntosh.
The Lions started their year off extremely strong averaging a 14.3 point magin of victory in their first four games against NCCAA oppenents. The Lions' first lost of the year was to undefeated Dakota College Lumber Jacks. The Lions trailed by 21 points in the first half, only to play even with the Lumber Jacks in the second half. The Lions then hit a rough patch, plagued by injuries and illness, dropping the next four games in a row, one of which being a home over-time loss to last years MCAC conference champions Red River College. Finally, the Lions pulled themselves back together for one last push before the semester break in a 66-54 win over the Faith Baptist Eagles. The Lions look to use that win as motivation next semester as they come back January 9th against NAIA Mayville State who fell to the Lions last year by two points. The Lions are 5-1 against NCCAA opponents and 2-2 in NIAC conference play.
