Tough Loss to End the Wolfpack's Season
Ankeny, IA – In the final game of the 20024-25 season, the Oak Hills Christian College Wolfpack fought as hard as they could, but were unable to end the year with a win. This is thanks, once again, to the sharpshooting Trinity Bible College Lions.
The Wolfpack travelled down to Ankeny, IA for the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) North Region Tournament early this week. This tournament was being hosted at Faith Baptist Bible College, and is held every year to see who gets the North Region's bid for the NCCAA National Tournament.
As the rankings for the tournament came out, the Wolfpack were matched up against the #3 seeded Trinity Bible College. The Lions are a familiar opponent to Oak Hills as they are also a member of the NIAC (Northern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference). This would be the fourth time this season that Wolfpack and the Lions have met up, and all four times, Oak Hills has been unable to answer for Trinity's ability to shoot the ball well.
The final score of the game would end up being 70-87, with the main difference in scoring coming during the first half. Trinity was able to use their over 58% shooting from the field to give them a 35-49 lead going into the half. The Wolfpack were able to coming into the second half and keep the scoring more even, but the first half deficit made it too hard to climb back into the game.
Oak Hills was led by Senior Alexander Gonzalez (Miami, FL) who played his final game as a Wolfpack member by scoring 25 points and adding 4 assists to the game. Junior Bryson Keepers (Sheldon, WI) was able to post a double-double for this game by scoring 19 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Keepers also contributed 2 blocks on the defensive end. Also scoring double digits was freshman Noah Larson (Park Rapids, MN) who scored 13 points and also grabbed 7 rebounds on the game.
Coach Daved Lundeen had this to say about his team after their final game of the season, "I am very proud of the fight and perseverance our guys showed against a very tough opponent. Both Alex and Deacon have been great leaders for us as the seniors this season, and their impact will continue to be felt in years to come. I'm extremely thankful to have been able to coach both of them."
