Bemidji, MN – It was a tough shooting weekend for the Wolfpack as they hosted their NIAC (Northern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) opponents, the Trinity Bible College Lions. In back-to-back nights of tough shooting going up against back-to-back nights of sharpshooting from the Lions, this made it tough to get any momentum or gain any ground.
The weekend ended with two losses for Oak Hills as they head into their final stretch of games to close out their regular season. The highlight for Wolfpack fans was the spotlight given to celebrate the team's two seniors, Deacon Bock (Blaine, MN) and Alexander Gonzalez (Miami, FL).
The seniors were celebrated with framed posters and some very kind words about their impact on the team and campus from Head Coach, Daved Lundeen.
Coach Lundeen had this to say about Bock:
Deacon has been an incredibly hard worker for us this season. He has played 3 sports (in just 2 seasons) this year, and gives 100% at all times. In fact, he is one of the hardest working athletes I have ever had the pleasure of coaching. He's willing to play any role that is needed, and pushes his teammates to be better with his constant effort. Deacon has a very diverse, and some might say eccentric, list of interests. It has been a joy to watch him keep his teammates on their toes as he goes from reading a theology book, to diving on the floor and taking charges, and then inviting them all to play Dungeons & Dragons. Deacon loves to compete in any and all manners. He will graduate this year with a degree in Bible and Business. I'm so thankful to have had him as a part of my team this season, and am very proud to see him seeking Christ as his top priority.
Coach Lundeen had this to say about Gonzalez:
Alexander Gonzalez - Alexander has been an incredible leader for our young team this year. His experience has been integral in our growth and successes. However, I've been most proud to watch him grow closer to Christ. As the year has gone on, he's turned into more than a leader on the court. He has begun investing spiritually in his teammates as well. Alex has only been at Oak Hills for one season, but he has embraced our community (and the cold) as much as somebody who spent all four years here. I'm so thankful for Alex's investment into my own kids as well, always making them feel loved and special. Alex is going to graduate this year with degrees in Bausiness and Bible. I'm so blessed to have been able to be his coach this season, and thankful for everything he's done for this program.
The Wolfpack will be back in action on Monday, February 3rd as they will travel down to New Ulm, MN to take on the Martin Luther College Knights at 5:30 pm.
