Volleyball Season Update
Season Update
The Lions volleyball team has seen success and close games in the first couple weeks of their season. They started on the road to Lake Region State College, in which they lost 3 straight sets (14-25, 13-25, 23-25). However, they saw immediate improvement that weekend as they beat Calvary University 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-22).
During the first games in September, the team fought to make close matches with great competitive teams. They made the long trip to Bottineau, ND for a triangular tournament with Assiniboine Community College and Dakota College at Bottineau in which they came out winning one set in each match.
When it finally came time for the first home game, the Lady Lions were ready to play on their home court. They started the night a little slow, losing the first set 14-25, but quickly turned it around to make it an exciting night. The Lions fought to come out on top for the second set, 26-24. However, Presentation College JV answered back with the third and fourth set, winning 22-25 and 19-25.
Player Stats
Outside hitter, Camryn Shockley, is currently leading the Lady Lions in kills with 51 total, averaging 2.22 kills per set. Middle hitter, Stacia West, is not far behind with 39 total kills so far this season. This wouldn't be possible, however, without the help of their only setter. Kennedy Nofziger is averaging 4.70 assists per set while also achieving 49 total digs.
It is their libero, Abreena Knudsen, who is leading with the best digs per set average. Although her total number of digs is slightly down due to missing a couple matches, she is owning the defense with an average of 4.07 digs per set.
Looking Ahead
The Lions will have a little time to prepare for their next match against Concordia College JV in Morehead, MN. They will be traveling to play on Wednesday, September 18 at 4:30pm. This will lead them into their Homecoming triangular against Calvary University and Dakota College at Bottineau on Friday, September 20, at 3:00pm and 7:00pm respectively.
